From Zurich we continued further west. We didn’t want to pay for the Swiss highway toll stamp (which later proofed unwise as the French toll was higher than the Swiss 1 year stamp) and so we took the winding route through Swiss countryside. Beautiful, but painfully time consuming.
Next stop was Mulhouse, where we stayed in a senior home partially turned hotel, as they had too many free rooms 😃 We had some great curry for dinner, which even Kubík liked very much, then went to see the center, but apart from the cathedral nothing really caught our eye.
The last, fourth night, took us to Montpellier. Finally, sun and warm weather! Beautiful city, with lots of small places to have a drink or a bite and observe the surroundings. We particularly enjoyed Les BockAles.
On pur way from Montpellier, we stopped by the medieval Pont du Diable, the first bridge to be built in the area, and also explored the little village of Saint-Giulhem-le-Désert right next to it. It has a great charm, but only off season, just check the empty street and imagine how crowded it will get in summer.
And from there, finally we arrived to Girona, to stay for 1 month. See next post to learn more about that.
